Millsboro man starts the year with a $50,000 POWERBALL^® win

(DOVER, Del.) — A 92-year-old retired man from Millsboro matched four white balls and the POWERBALL^® in the January 5 POWERBALL^® drawing, winning $50,000 before taxes. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket using Quick Pick while visiting Super G #2351 in Millsboro.

Amazingly, this was the man’s first time playing the Delaware Lottery. He purchased 25 tickets on a whim, and was shocked to discover we had won $50,000 as a result while checking the Delaware Lottery website. “I just wanted to take a chance,” the man said. “You never know what might happen, but winning this big was certainly a shock.”

The man was happy to share the excitement of this unexpected start to the year with his daughter, who was there to help him celebrate. He’s still deciding what he’d like to do with his winnings.
