Mega upgrades coming to MEGA MILLIONS® in 2025

Dover, DE — Beginning next April, MEGA MILLIONS® will offer bigger jackpots, better odds, and increased prizes at every level—making one of America’s most popular games even more exciting.

MEGA MILLIONS® players will benefit from several new and improved benefits including:

  • Higher starting and faster growing jackpots
  • Improved odds to win the jackpot
  • More frequent big jackpots
  • Built-in multipliers on every play that automatically improve non-jackpot wins by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X – up to $10 million for matching the five white balls
  • No breakeven prizes, so winning tickets will always pay out more than the cost of the ticket

When these enhancements go into effect next year, MEGA MILLIONS® will cost $5 to play. This price increase is only the game’s second since MEGA MILLIONS® was launched over 20 years ago and the first since the current game matrix was adopted in 2017.

Introduced in 2002, MEGA MILLIONS® has produced six winners of billion-dollar jackpots. Between 2017 and today, over 1300 players have become millionaires for an average of three new millionaires made every week.

MEGA MILLIONS® drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 p.m.

MEGA MILLIONS®:
MEGA MILLIONS® is the multi-state lottery game with a minimum estimated annuity jackpot of $20 million per drawing, plus other prizes ranging from $2 to $1 million. MEGA MILLIONS® drawings can be played up to 9:45 p.m. on drawing days.
