Middletown man wins $16,000 playing KENO®
Dover, DE — Russell Sands, a 53-year-old construction manager from Middletown decided to play KENO® while visiting Halftime Sports Bar in Newark. Mr. Sands was shocked when he matched nine out of ten numbers, making him a $16,000 winner before taxes.
While Mr. Sands has been playing the Delaware Lottery for about 20 years, this is the first time he has ever won. He enjoys the fast-paced action of KENO® and prefers to select his own KENO® numbers using an app.
Mr. Sands was surprised when he saw how many numbers he matched on the monitor. He first shared the exciting news with the bartender. When asked what he will do with his winnings, Mr. Sands said that he would use the money to pay down his son’s student loans.
“Congratulations Mr. Sands,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “We are always happy to see a KENO® player win big.”
Mr. Sands claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on October 9, 2023.
