Townsend man wins $150,000 playing BIG BUCKS BLOWOUT

Dover, DE — A 70-year-old retired man from Townsend has claimed the first $150,000 top prize for the Instant Game BIG BUCKS BLOWOUT. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket from Smoke King in Middletown.

The man said he has been playing the Delaware Lottery ever since moving to Delaware in 2016. He doesn’t have a particular method for selecting his Instant Game tickets, but usually purchases one a day. “It’s just something I do for fun,” the man said.

“Congratulations to this lucky player,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “It’s always great to see Instant Games players bring home big prizes, especially around the holidays.”

While having fun is the man’s main reason for playing, he’s no stranger to winning either. He has won prizes as large as $1,000 playing Instant Games in the past. When he realized this particular ticket was a $150,000 winner, the man said his first reaction was shouting, “Whoopee!”

“I wasn’t going to buy a ticket this time, but decided to at the last minute,” the man said. “It was really a spur of the moment decision. I’m really glad it worked out the way it did.” He plans to put his winnings toward a trip to the Bahamas in the new year.
