Laurel man wins $152,700 playing POWERBALL®
Dover, DE — A 63-year-old butcher from Laurel recently purchased a 10 game POWERBALL® ticket with the Power Play® multiplier option while visiting Royal Farms #295 in Millsboro. It turned out to be a visit the man won’t soon forget. When he checked his numbers, the man realized he was a $152,700 winner for the August 1, 2022 drawing.
This unusual prize amount was the result of the man selecting his own numbers. He chose the same numbers for each of the five white balls, but chose different POWERBALL® numbers for each game. Nine games matched four white balls with a 3x Power Play® multiplier, winning him $2,700. The tenth game matched four white balls and the POWERBALL®, and with the same 3x Power Play® multiplier, won him $150,000.
“Congratulations to this lucky player on his unique win,” said Helene Keeley, Acting Director of the Delaware Lottery. “It’s always great to see Delaware Lottery players win big with POWERBALL®, and the Power Play® multiplier.”
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he has been playing the Delaware Lottery for about 22 years. “I was in shock when I checked my ticket online,” the man said. “It took me a minute to figure out exactly how much I had won, but when I realized it was $152,700, I ran right to my wife and told her it was time to celebrate.”
The winning numbers from the August 1, 2022 drawing were 15, 21, 31, 36 and 65. The POWERBALL® number was 16, and the Power Play® number was 3X.
POWERBALL® drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 PM EST. The current estimated annuity jackpot stands at $20 million dollars, and the lucky winning ticket is still out there waiting to be found. POWERBALL® costs $2 per game. POWERBALL® with Power Play® costs $3 per game.
