New Castle man wins $150,000 playing POWERBALL®
Dover, DE — A 59-year-old man from New Castle recently purchased two tickets for the June 25th POWERBALL® drawing while visiting Joey’s Liquors in New Castle. This routine stop for some Draw Game fun would soon turn into a big cause for celebration when one of those tickets matched four white balls and the POWERBALL®. Because he also played Power Play® with a 3X multiplier, his prize total became $150,000 before taxes.
“We’re always excited to see Delaware Lottery Draw Game players win big,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Congratulations to this lucky player on their $150,000 win.”
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he has been playing the Delaware Lottery since 2017. He enjoys playing POWERBALL® for the chance to win big every week, and said he always selects his own numbers. This is his largest win to date.
“I had to do a double take when I saw my numbers listed on the website,” the man said. “I still can’t believe I won $150,000.” He’s still deciding what to do with his winnings.
The winning numbers from the June 25 drawing were 06, 12, 20, 27 and 32. The POWERBALL® number was 04, and the Power Play number was 3X.
The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on June 27, 2022.
POWERBALL® has a minimum estimated annuity jackpot of $20 million per drawing. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Play up to 9:45 p.m. on drawing days. POWERBALL® tickets cost $2 per game. POWERBALL® with Power Play® cost $3 per game.
