New Castle man wins first CASH WORD $10,000 top prize

Dover, DE — Dennis Crossan, a 45-year-old man from New Castle, has claimed the first $10,000 top prize from the recently introduced $5 Instant Game CASH WORD. Mr. Crossan purchased the winning ticket from Wawa #823 in Bear.

“Congratulations to Mr. Crossan on his big win,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “What an exciting way to kick off the new year.”

A lifelong Delaware resident, Mr. Crossan said he has been an avid player of Delaware Lottery Instant Games for the past 15 years. He usually purchases multiple tickets at a time, and said he enjoys playing simply because, “it’s something fun to do.”

While Mr. Crossan has won prizes as large as $1,000 playing Instant Games in the past, this is his largest win to date. “I was in shock when I saw how much I won,” said Mr. Crossan. “Once I realized I really was a $10,000 winner, I called my wife right away to tell her the good news.”

When asked what he was planning to do with his winnings, Mr. Crossan said he plans to put the money toward a new truck.

Mr. Crossan claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on January 6, 2022.
