$1,000,000 POWERBALL® ticket claimed by Milford man
Dover, DE — A retired 84 year old man from Milford matched five white balls in the January 30, 2021 POWERBALL® drawing, winning $1,000,000 before taxes. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased two Quick Pick POWERBALL® tickets for the drawing from his local Food Lion #1294 in Milford.
“I’ve won a couple dollars here and there, but this is my first big win,” the man said. “I scanned my ticket three times, because I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutely shocked.”
“We’re always excited to see big wins like this happen in Delaware,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Congratulations to the lucky $1,000,000 winner.”
The man was excited to share the news of his big win with his children. “All three asked if I was kidding,” the man said. He doesn’t currently have plans for his winnings, but is very surprised and happy that he won.
When asked why he plays the Delaware Lottery, the man said, “Just for fun!”
The winning numbers from the January 30 drawing were 01, 02, 07, 52 and 61. The POWERBALL® number was 04, and the Power Play number was 3x.
The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on February 11, 2021.
