Wilmington woman’s quick trip to store for neighbor leads to big win
Dover, DE — A 52-year-old woman from Wilmington purchased two Money Frenzy Instant Game tickets spur-of-the-moment on a trip to Windsor Market in Wilmington. The woman said, “One of my neighbors who lives in my building and is a friend asked me to go to the store for them. While I was there, I figured I’d get a ticket or two for myself.” One of those tickets ended up winning her one of the game’s $250,000 top prizes.
“It’s not only great to see another big win in one of our instant scratch games” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “But, it’s also heartening to see people lending each other a helping hand during these difficult times.”
The woman, who started playing the Delaware Lottery about two years ago, said this is her first big win. “It was a total shock because I wasn’t supposed to go to the store that day,” she said. Her daughter was the first to hear her good news.
When asked what she was planning to do with the money, the woman said she plans on buying a handicap accessible van and moving to a new home.
The woman claimed her prize from Lottery Headquarters on April 21, 2020.
