The Delaware Lottery Announces America’s Newest Million-Dollar Drawing Game: Lotto America℠ With All-Star Bonus
Drawings every Wednesday and Saturday starting at $2 million!
(DOVER, Del.) — The Delaware Lottery is joining 12 other lotteries across the nation to launch Lotto America℠ with All-Star Bonus, America’s newest multi-million drawing game. Beginning on Nov. 15, 2017, the first Lotto America℠ draw will offer participants a chance to win prizes in nine different tiers, with annuity jackpots starting at $2 million. Lotto America℠ existed from 1988 to 1992 as a multi-state lottery game, before being rebranded as POWERBALL®. Now, after 25 years, it has been revived in an exciting new format.
“Given the rich history of Lotto America℠ in the state of Delaware, we are excited to bring this classic American game back to our fan base,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “The game has been enhanced for a new generation of players, and we are confident that it will attract new and current players to try their luck so that we can continue to fund many of our vital state programs.”
Lotto America℠ will be offered in 13 U.S. states, including Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia, making it one of the largest $1 draw games in the country. To win the Lotto America℠ Grand Prize, a player must match all five numbers, plus the Star Ball. It’s also possible to win a prize by just matching the Star Ball on its own. If a winner is not selected, the Grand Prize will increase by a minimum of $50,000 per draw, until it’s won. Once game sales are implemented on Nov. 12, the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 9.63.
“The one thing that hasn’t changed from the original Lotto America℠ game is the price to play,” Kirk added. “The $1 price point is an affordable option for people to play within their means, with great potential for big winners.”
Players are required to pick five numbers between 1 and 52, plus a Star Ball from a separate pool between 1 and 10, or select the “quick pick” option; the lottery terminal will randomly pick your numbers. It costs $1 per play, but for $2, players can also opt to have any non-jackpot prize multiplied. An All-Star Bonus number is drawn at the end of each game, increasing the value of any prize apart from the Grand Prize by two, three, four or even five times.
Lotto America℠ drawings will be held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. ET in Tallahassee, Florida. Drawings will not be televised. The Lotto America℠ game will feature two draw machines. The first machine will contain 52 balls; the second machine will contain 10 balls. Five balls will be drawn from the first machine, and one ball—the Lotto America Star Ball℠—will be drawn from the second machine.
