POWERBALL® Power Play Multiplier Doubles Delaware Resident’s Prize to $100,000
(DOVER, DE) — A 51-year-old woman from Lincoln, Delaware, who works as a nursing assistant, started the weekend with a $100,000 POWERBALL® win in the June 10 drawing. The winner, a wife and mother of three daughters who wishes to remain anonymous, won $50,000 after correctly matching four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the POWERBALL®. The woman, who purchased the ticket at Kemp’s Liquors on Milton Ellendale Highway in Milton, multiplied her $50,000 prize by two through the $1 Power Play option.
“I have been playing the same numbers for a while,” the winner said. “When I saw the jackpot get pretty high, I thought, ‘Let me get in on the action.’”
The winner told Lottery officials that she stayed up late Saturday night watching TV because she couldn’t sleep, and around 12:30 a.m., she remembered to check her numbers. Immediately after realizing she was a winner, she woke up her sleeping husband.
“I always thought if I won the Lottery, I would pass out because I would be so nervous and excited,” the winner added. “Luckily, I was calm and kept it together when I told my husband the news!”
The woman has played the Lottery for many years and says she is still hoping to win the “big” jackpot. While she doesn’t think this win will change her life, she says she plans to use the money to take care of her children and family.
The winning numbers from the June 10 drawing were 20, 26, 28, 32 and 38. The POWERBALL® number was 03, and the Power Play number was 2x.
The winner claimed her prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on Tuesday, June 13.
