A Lunch Break Leads to $250,000 Win For Smyrna Native Playing the Delaware Lottery’s $250,000 Cash Instant Game

(DOVER, DE) — A 34-year-old woman from Smyrna, Delaware, experienced a rewarding lunch break on Monday, May 22. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, scratched her $25 Instant Game ticket while on lunch break and, to her surprise, won a top prize in the Delaware Lottery’s $250,000 Cash Instant Game. The married woman purchased the winning ticket at Speedway on N. DuPont Highway in New Castle, Delaware.

“It was just like any other day when I scratched the ticket during my lunch break, until I realized I was a big winner” said the woman, who works in billing. “I called my husband repeatedly until he answered.”

The winner told Lottery officials that she previously won $5,000, but this is her largest win to date. She has been playing the Lottery on and off for about two years and doesn’t have a specific method or process for buying tickets.

“My husband didn’t believe me at first,” she said. “In addition to telling my husband, I shared the news with my parents, who were also very excited for me.”

The winner plans to use her prize money to pay off bills and, most importantly, spoil her children. While the money will provide a lot of relief, it’s not going to change her life drastically.

The woman claimed her $250,000 prize at Lottery Headquarters on Monday, May 22.
