As Winter Temperatures Rise, POWERBALL® Jackpot Climbs to $403 Million
(DOVER, DE) — This Wednesday, February 22, POWERBALL® players will have an opportunity to be the first grand-prize winner of 2017. According to Multi-State Lottery Association officials, the new POWERBALL® estimated annuity jackpot of $403 million—the 10th-largest jackpot in the game’s history—was reached after the Saturday, February 18 drawing.
Wednesday’s $403 million jackpot drawing could offer a single winner a cash payout of $243.9 million. The Delaware Lottery joins lotteries across the country in encouraging people to play responsibly.
“The jackpot has reached a level where many occasional and first-time Lottery players are starting to buy tickets,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “We encourage players to play for the fun, use good judgment and know when to take a break. Remember, it only takes one ticket to win!”
The winning numbers from Saturday’s drawing were 3, 7, 9, 31 and 22. The POWERBALL® number was 20, and the Power Play® number was 3. The most recent POWERBALL® jackpot ($121.1 million) was won on December 17, 2016, and claimed in Delaware. Although there have been no jackpot winners in 2017, in the past week, 10 players have won at least $1 million—the most of any week this calendar year. The overall odds of winning any POWERBALL® prize are more than 292 million to 1.
Tickets sell for $2 per game; the Power Play® option POWERBALL® costs $3 per game.
