Jackpot Fever Sweeps the Nation
MEGA MILLIONS® Soars to Third-Largest Jackpot—$540 Million
(DOVER, DE) — The excitement for MEGA MILLIONS® continues to grow along with the jackpot, with players having an opportunity to win an estimated $540 million ($380 million cash payout) this Friday, July 8. The jackpot was reached Tuesday evening after no ticket sold matched all six numbers drawn. This $540 million jackpot represents the largest MEGA MILLIONS® jackpot since December 2013. In fact, there have been only two other jackpots in MEGA MILLIONS® history larger than Friday night’s estimated prize.
With the jackpot approaching near-record status and more Delawareans deciding to take a chance, the Delaware Lottery joins the other 46 participating lotteries across the nation in urging people to play responsibly.
“We want our players to enjoy lottery games for the excitement they bring, but to also take into account their own financial situation,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “A good rule of thumb is to play for fun and know your limits.”
The winning numbers from Tuesday’s drawing were 25, 46, 53, 64 and 73, and the MEGA MILLIONS® Ball was 10. The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in the state of Washington on March 8, 2016, at $157 million. Since that time, there have been 46 Match 5 winning tickets worth $1 million or more, and a total of $56.2 million in winning tickets at all prize levels.
