MEGA MILLIONS® Jackpot Climbs to Sixth Largest Ever — $363 Million
(DOVER, DE) — This Friday, June 24, MEGA MILLIONS® players will have an opportunity to win the sixth-largest jackpot in MEGA MILLIONS® history. The new estimated annuity jackpot of $363 million was reached after the Tuesday, June 21 drawing. This is the largest prize offered in the MEGA MILLIONS® game since March 18, 2014, when two tickets shared a $414 million jackpot.
With no winner from Tuesday, a single winner could opt for a cash payout of $244 million. The Delaware Lottery joins lotteries across the country in encouraging people to play responsibly.
“We want people to have fun, but it’s important for them to not get [too] caught up in the ‘jackpot fever’ that they overextend themselves,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “The odds of winning a MEGA MILLIONS® jackpot prize are 1 in 259 million, which is something we want to make people aware of. In addition, we encourage people to play in the spirit of the Lottery—that is, for entertainment and in support of vital programs in the State of Delaware.”
The winning numbers from Tuesday’s drawing were 6, 13, 21, 49 and 50, and the MEGA MILLIONS® Ball was 10. The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in Washington on March 8, 2016, at $157 million. Since that time, there have been 40 Match 5 winning tickets worth $1 million or more and a total of 48.3 million winning tickets at all prize levels.
“It’s an exciting time for lotteries and players across the country, as a jackpot of this scale can generate substantial revenue for state services,” Kirk added. “If everyone plays within their means and spends only what they can reasonably afford, this can be a fun experience with powerful outcomes for everyone.”
The largest record MEGA MILLIONS® jackpot is $656 million—three tickets shared that jackpot on March 30, 2012.
