POWERBALL® Jackpot Drawing Climbs to $500 Million
The Delaware Lottery Encourages Players to Play Responsibly
(DOVER, DE) — Wednesday night’s POWERBALL® has reached an estimated annuity jackpot of $500 million—the fourth-largest in POWERBALL® history, and the sixth-largest in the U.S., according to Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) officials.
The current jackpot has been climbing for 18 weeks, since the most recent POWERBALL® grand prize winner on November 4, 2015. If the $500 million jackpot is won this Wednesday, the winner could opt for a cash option payout of $306 million.
“The Delaware Lottery strongly encourages players to play responsibly and to spend only what they can personally afford,” said Vernon Kirk, Director, Delaware Lottery. “Joining a pool with a few friends or coworkers offers a good option for playing responsibly.”
The Delaware Lottery joins other lotteries across the country in support of responsible play by emphasizing that the odds of winning a POWERBALL® jackpot prize are 1 in 292 million. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 25. Nationally, POWERBALL® has produced 316 second-tier winners of $1 million or $2 million in the past year.
POWERBALL® tickets sell for $2 per game, and with the Power Play® option POWERBALL® costs $3 per game.
