WILMINGTON WOMAN WINS $2 MILLION AS
POWERBALL® JACKPOT SOARS TO $550 MILLLION
The Delaware Lottery Asks Players To Keep Responsible Play In Mind
Dover, DE - May 16, 2013 - A 34-year-old woman from Wilmington, DE, is the lucky winner of $2 million playing POWERBALL® with POWER PLAY® from last night’s drawing. The winning ticket was sold at Jay’s Liquors located at 900 N. DuPont Street in Wilmington. The $2 million winner from Delaware is one of only two $2 million winners in the country from Wednesday night’s drawing.
Additionally, there was a $10,000 winning ticket sold in Delaware at the Daily Market in Lewes. The winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize. Overall, there were 15,009 winners in Delaware from the May 15 drawing
With no grand prizewinner from Wednesday night’sdrawing, thePOWERBALL jackpot soared from $360 million to a $550 million annuity jackpot with a cash prize option of $350.1 million. The current jackpot ranks as the second largest in POWERBALL history and the third largest jackpot overall. The winning numbers for the May 15 drawing were 2, 11, 26, 34, and 31 with a POWERBALL of 32. The next drawing for POWERBALL will be held Saturday, May 18.
Delaware Lottery officials are hoping for a big win in Delaware but they ask players to keep responsible play in mind. The odds of winning a jackpot prize are 1-in-175 million.
“The Delaware Lottery asks that players please play responsibly by limiting the amount they spend to what is personally affordable,” said Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. “It only takes one ticket to win, as we’ve seen many times with the winners who come through our door.”
Both POWERBALL and MEGA MILLIONS® have seen huge jackpot swells within the last year, both reaching record-breaking jackpot status. Last November, POWERBALL reached $587.5 million making it the largest estimated annuity jackpot in the game’s history to date. In March, MEGA MILLIONS reached a total of $656 million and was the largest jackpot in world history to date.
