FOOTBALL FAN SCORES BIG AS THE FIRST $100K WINNER IN SPORTS LOTTERY PARLAY
Dover, DE --A 34-year-old avid football fan and married father of four from Camden, New Jersey, scored big when he hit the Delaware Sports Lottery’s $100,000 Parlay Card over a week’s span of the NFL season. This marks the first-time that a sports bettor has ever won the $100,000 Parlay Card, according to Delaware Lottery officials.
The player, who wished to remain anonymous, played three of the $5 parlay cards at Delaware Park, prior to the Week 5 NFL games. One lucky card had all the right picks for that week - 13 out of 13 games correct - against the point spread. However, under the rules of the $100,000 Parlay Card, players must pick 15 games correctly – thus necessitating two picks from Week 6 – and an agonizing six day wait.
Beating odds of more than 32,000 to one, the happy winner was able to seal the 15-for-15 deal this weekend, when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Houston Texans.
“I watched both the Eagles and Ravens’ games, while keeping an eye on the other scores,” said the winner. “I was most nervous about Baltimore versus Houston and as soon as the last game was over, I knew I had won.”
“The $100,000 card is a great card and has become very popular with our Sports Lottery players,” said Delaware Lottery’s Acting Director, Vernon Kirk. “It’s nice to see someone hit it after two previous close calls and it’s very fitting that the last two picks were the Eagles and Ravens.“
A frequenter of the Atlantic City casinos, the winner claims that he had no special method in choosing his picks and that this was his first time betting at Delaware Park. Due to his big win, he plans to continue to play at the Park in the future and is considering trying a hand at some of the Lottery’s more traditional games “now while I’m on a winning streak.”
As for the $100,000, “I plan to fix up my car and just simply enjoy the winnings,” said the lucky man, with delight. The winner also joked that at this moment, his wife is the only one who knows of his good fortune.
