$150M POWERBALL® JACKPOT NOW WORLD'S LARGEST
Delaware Lottery advocates responsible play for spring's first major
Powerball® jackpot
Dover, DE -- As this Saturday's POWERBALL® jackpot swells towards an estimated annuity prize of $150 million, the Delaware Lottery reminds players to enjoy games responsibly and within their means. The top prize would likely represent the second-largest POWERBALL® jackpot of 2009, and is expected to dwarf the world's other top current advertised lotteries in Italy (approx. $78.27 million), New York (approx. $41 million) and Canada (approx. $34.1 million).
"With spring in bloom and summer vacations just around the corner this is a great time for anyone to net a big win," said Delaware Lottery Director, Wayne Lemons. "Many Delaware Lottery players are still buzzing from $177.4 million POWERBALL® jackpot from Feb. 28 that two anonymous Delawareans recently claimed half of. We'd love to see another major winner in this state."
Director Lemons also reminded Delaware Lottery players that it only takes one ticket to win. "No matter how large the jackpot grows, it's always important to play all Delaware Lottery games responsibly.
The current jackpot run began April 11, and Saturday night's draw will be the 11th draw in this run. The one-time cash payment option is estimated at $76.3 million.
The projected $150 million top prize stands as the world's largest annuity jackpot currently advertised for a lottery game.
The Delaware Lottery reminds players that prizes must be claimed within one year from the date of the drawing.
Powerball tickets are sold in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $3 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware.
