Newark Man Scores $10,000 Top Prize in Money Plus
Instant Game
Two top prizes and hundreds of others remain
Dover, DE -- Jorge Jaquez had been planning to take his oldest son to visit his grandfather in Chihuahua, Mexico for some time. Now the 42-year-old roofer from Newark won't have to worry how he's going to pay for it, as he recently came forward as the first winner of the $10,000 jackpot on the Money Plus instant game.
Jaquez, who is originally from Mexico and is a married father of three, said he is a regular Delaware Lottery player and especially enjoys the instant games.
"I like to play, but I never thought I'd win the big money," he said. "I couldn't believe it. My wife still didn't really believe it until I brought it [to the Lottery office for verification]."
Next month, Jaquez and his 14-year-old son, will start the drive to Chihuahua from Newark. And despite his win he is still determined to drive.
"It's about a 40-hour drive," he said. "It will be good to be with my son and the money will come in handy. Yesterday was just my lucky day."
Money Plus is a $5 ticket released on May 29. It features three $10,000 top prizes of which two are still available. Jaquez purchased his winning ticket at Fairwinds Liquors on Pulaski Highway in Bear.
