Happy Graduation! University of Delaware Student
Wins $10,000 Powerball Prize
Dover, DE -- It surely is a time
for celebration for a 23-year-old Dewey Beach man. After successfully
completing his last class at the University of Delaware last
month, he scored $10,000 from the March 3 Powerball drawing.
The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, is now working
as a liquor store manager in Rehoboth Beach and was absolutely
shocked that he was able to match four numbers and the Powerball.
"I just kept thinking, 'You've got to be kidding me,'"
he said. "Then I thought about how close I was to the
jackpot. Only one more number and I'd have won $120 million."
But he wasn't complaining about his win. He is scheduled to
graduate in May and the money will be put to good use. The
recent graduate has already earmarked the money to repay student
loans.
The man admitted that he's not a regular player, but likes
to play when the jackpots are large. "I figured for $120
million, I'd give it a shot," he said.
The current Powerball jackpot stands at $15 million after
Saturday's drawing saw a $182.7 million jackpot won in Oregon.
Saturday's drawing also saw a $30,000 prize won in Delaware,
but the winner has yet to come forward.
That winning ticket was purchased at the Shore Stop located
at 801 Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.
