September 15 , 2006New Castle Man wins $50,000 Instant Game Prize
Dover, DE -- A long-time instant
game player recently captured the first of the two $50,000
jackpots for the $20 Color of Money game. The man, who has
chosen to remain anonymous, is a retired hotel worker, a father
of five and grandfather to three.
"When I saw the $50,000 on the ticket, I just kept scratching.
I couldn't believe it," he said. "So I went in to
have the clerk scan it. She said I was a winner, but I still
wasn't sure, so I went to another store where I buy tickets
to have them verify it. I guess I wanted a second opinion."
The winner said he plays regularly and has won many smaller
prizes in the $100 to $500 range, but never a jackpot like
this. He added the money will help him and his wife of 46
years complete some home improvement projects, while he intends
to give the rest of it to his family.
"This is a once in a lifetime thing, so I'll share it.
In a few weeks, I will have probably given it all away,"
he said.
The lucky winning game card was purchased at the Cumberland
Farms on New Castle Avenue in New Castle.
"They always know what I want there," he said of
the Cumberland Farms. "I'll keep playing. It's fun for
me and, of course, The Color of Money is my new favorite."
