MULTI-WIN LOTTO PLAYER STARTS THE NEW YEAR
WITH A $86,000 TOP PRIZE
Dover, DE -- A regular MULTI-WIN
LOTTO player from Selbyville rang in the new year with a little
more cheer than most by winning the $86,000 MULTI-WIN LOTTO
top prize. The winner learned on New Year's Eve, after checking
his ticket at a Lottery Retailer's Quick Check, he had won
the top prize from the December 30, 2005 drawing the day before.
He claimed his prize yesterday afternoon at the Delaware Lottery
Office in Dover and received a check for $64,500 which represents
his prize minus federal withholding taxes. To date, the MULTI-WIN
LOTTO game has had more than 943,888 winners who have won
over $4.6 million, including nine top prizes of $50,000.
The winning man, a 64-year-old U.S. Postal worker who has
chosen to remain anonymous, was very happy about his New Year's
win and did not believe it when he first found out he won.
He purchased his winning Quick Pick ticket the day before
the drawing at Dave's Liquors in New Castle. He plans to save
his winnings for future use. The winner plays the MULTI-WIN
LOTTO game often as well as several other Lottery games. He
plans to continue playing the Lottery in the future and even
reported winning another smaller amount yesterday.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery
has contributed more than
$2.1 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed
state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery
offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, MULTI-WIN LOTTO,
PLAY 3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
