POWERBALL PRIZE SURPASSES DELAWARE RECORD
Dover, DE -- The POWERBALL®
jackpot for Saturday, June 4, 2005 has surpassed the state
record jackpot prize won for the game-last fall a $214.7 million
jackpot prize was awarded in Sussex County. Over the holiday
weekend, POWERBALL® players will be purchasing tickets
for a jackpot worth $215 million, one of the highest jackpots
ever.
More than 120,000 Delawareans have won a portion of more than
$72 million in prizes awarded during the current POWERBALL®
run. The next drawing will now be the 17th drawing in this
series, which began on Saturday, April 2, 2005 and has not
produced a jackpot winner.
"This is the first time this year that the POWERBALL®
jackpot has been in excess of $100 million," said Brian
Peters, deputy director of Sales and Marketing. "We might
be on our way to breaking the Delaware jackpot prize record
for this game if the winning ticket is sold here."
Last October the record $214.7 million POWERBALL® jackpot
was won by 33 employees from a printing company in Seaford,
Del. Each of the 33 winners last year in Seaford received
a payment of $2,657,754, which represented their winning share
of the jackpot after federal taxes.
