TJ'S FOOD MART SELLS $100,000 POWERBALL TICKET
DOVER, DE --A 51-year-old man from
Wilmington claimed a $100,000 POWERBALL® prize from the
August 27 drawing yesterday at the Delaware Lottery Office
in Dover. The winner received $75,000. This figure represents
his $100,000 prize minus $25,000 for federal tax.
A regular LOTTO and POWERBALL® player, the man purchased
the winning ticket at TJ's Food Mart at 1700 Marsh Road in
Wilmington on the day of the drawing. He found out he won
when a store clerk checked his ticket.
He says the prize will come in handy for covering upcoming
bills. Although he's never won anything before, he plans to
continue to play Delaware Lottery Games.
The POWERBALL jackpot for Saturday, September 6 has an estimated
annuity value of
$12 million. Friday's LOTTO jackpot has an estimated value
of $415,000. Tickets for both games cost $1 and are available
at nearly 500 Delaware Lottery Retailers.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery
has contributed more than $1.6 billion to the state's General
Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone
in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL,
LOTTO, PLAY 3 and PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
