MIDDLETOWN MAN CLAIMS $771,000 ALL CASH LOTTO PRIZE FOR APRIL 4 DRAWING
DOVER, DE - A 63-year-old retired man from Middletown claimed the April 4, 2001, All Cash Lotto jackpot prize of $771,000 this morning at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was awarded $555,120, which represents his $771,000 prize minus $215,880 for federal tax. He purchased the winning ticket, a Quick Pick ticket, the day of the drawing (April 4) at Bear Creek Crossing Amoco on South DuPont Highway in New Castle.
The winner told Lottery Officials he found out he had won when he checked the winning numbers in the newspaper this morning. The man said, "I was completely shocked that I had won such a big prize!". Commenting on what he plans to do with the prize money, the man said, "I'm not sure yet, but I'll probably pay some of my bills". The winner told Lottery Officials that he plays All Cash Lotto often and will continue to play Lottery games.
According to Lottery Officials, as of April 5, two All Cash Lotto jackpot prizes remain unclaimed, including the June 29, 2000, $336,000 jackpot and the Jan. 29, 2001, $171,000 jackpot. The winning numbers for the June 29 drawing were 01, 07, 11, 18, 28 and 35. The winning numbers for the Jan. 29 drawing were 09, 14, 17, 22, 23 and 28. Prizes may be claimed up to one year from the date of the drawing.
